McGuire's journey began outside the Nation's Capitol. Originally from Philadelphia, she excelled in her academic pursuits, graduating with honors from both Trinity College (now Trinity Washington University) and Georgetown University Law Center. After law school, she held various positions at Georgetown including Assistant Dean, adjunct law professor, and project director for a legal program. McGuire also leveraged her legal expertise with public appearances, providing commentary on legal matters for CBS News' children's program and a local Washington D.C. talk show.


In 1989, McGuire took the helm of Trinity Washington University, the first women's university in Washington, D.C. Under her leadership, the university has seen remarkable growth and transformation. From expanding academic programs and launching innovative initiatives to fostering a strong sense of community and social responsibility, McGuire has positioned Trinity as a leader in women's education and a vital contributor to the D.C. landscape.
